Executive Function
Executive Functions are the group of complex mental processes and cognitive abilities (such as task initiation, stress management and metacognition) that control the skills required to accomplish goals.
Executive functions live in the pre-frontal cortex. Evolutionarily speaking, they are the newer cognitive processes. So it’s no wonder that many people struggle with executive function. In people with ADHD, executive function deficits can be acute.
